Policy and Objective

Main Objective

To promote, protect and safeguard the interest of the members of Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association, engage total transportation of the goods in international trade by sea, and land and air and combined multimodal transportation and any other related service like, warehousing, packing, space booking, export & import documentation, CFS operation, custom brokerage, consolidation/deconsolidation and all other functions pertaining to freight forwarding, logistics service, Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier(NVOCC) and supply chain management.

Broad Objective

The objects for which the Association is established are :

  •  To promote, protect and safeguard the interest of the members of Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association, engage total transportation of the goods in international trade by sea, and land and air and combined multimodal transportation and any other related service like, warehousing, packing, space booking, export & import documentation, CFS operation, custom brokerage, consolidation/deconsolidation and all other functions pertaining to freight forwarding, logistics service provider, Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier(NVOCC) and supply chain management.
  •  To promote unity and to encourage, promote and foster the ideas of co-operation and friendly relations amongst the Freight Forwards and logistics service provider in Bangladesh.
  •  To secure, organize and to take action either directly or indirectly on any matter relating to the interests of Freight Forwarders and logistics service provider in Bangladesh.
  •  To establish and maintain high ethical standard among those engaged freight forwarding and logistics service providers business in Bangladesh.
  •  To act, as negotiating body for members of the Association or from any negotiating body with the approval of the Association to settle any disputes relating to the business or transactions executed by the members of the Association or to make recommendations or suggestion to government departments or agencies, FBCCI, ICC, IMTA, SAFFFA, FAPAA, IATA, FIATA, or other bodies in the relation to any measure, Calculation or any disputes.
  •  To take all steps by lawful means that may be necessary for promoting or opposing legislation or any other action affecting the general interest of Freight Forwarding trade in Bangladesh.
  •  To promote and safeguard the economic and trade interests of its members through exchange of information.
  •  To prints, circulate and publish journals, magazines, papers, periodicals etc. relating to the Freight forwarding business to promote, develop, increase such business and establish and the image of the Association and its members.
  •  To arbitrate, mediate or conciliate disputes either in between the member of the association, or with a member of the association and an outside, if referred to the association.
  •  To establish equitable principle in Freight Forwarding Trade.
  •  To promote, advance and help technical education, training and such other studies of different field of Freight Forwarding services in the country.
  •  To maintain suitable office(s) for holding meeting of members or arbitrator and other likely matters.
  •  To acquire, by purchase or otherwise, land , building or other properties movable or immovable, which the Association for the purpose thereof may from time to time consider proper and beneficial to acquire.
  •  To sell, improve manage, develop, exchange, lease, mortgage, dispose of or otherwise deal with all or any part of the property of the Association.
  •  To take on lease, hire purchase, or otherwise acquire and maintain any movable and immovable property of any description for benefit of the Association as a whole.
  •  To establish any of fund or endowment and accept towards the same any request, gifts, donation, or subscription and to establish and support institution and trust calculated to benefit the members of the Association, its employees or their dependants and to grant gratuities, pensions and allowances, and to subscribe or grant money for any charitable or benevolent objects or for any general public or useful objects,
  •  To establish and prepare general principles and Standard Trading Conditions (STC) to regulate and control the business of freight forwarders of Bangladesh.
  •  To hire/appoint and remunerate persons or companies for services rendered or to be rendered to the Association.
  •  To pay from the fund of the Association all costs, charges and expenses preliminary and incidental for promotion, establishment and registration of the association.
  •  To borrow or take loan from any source as may be required by the Association from time to time secure the payment of such loan or debts in such manner and on such terms and conditions as may be determined by the Board of Directors of the Association.
  •  To draw, make, accept, discount, execute bills of exchange, promissory notes, cheques, pay orders and any other negotiable or transferable instruments.
  •  To bring/institute suites or take any other legal actions, civil, criminal, financial, financial or otherwise, whether original or appellate, in any court of law in Bangladesh or elsewhere for and on behalf of the Association and also sign petition, application, written statements and vokalatnamas and authorize legal practitioners to act for, and on behalf of the association.
  •  To represent the cause of the Association before all the authorities concerned or any other local body or standing committee.
  •  To formulate rules, regulate, change, reform standard, policies, principles and practices to be maintained and as well as their business.
